Mufumbwe Town Council has made steady progress on the construction of a Maternity Annex at Kalengwa Rural Health Centre.
With the growing population and economic activities taking place in the ward, the demand for various services, including health, has been high, and the Government takes pride in ensuring that various services in these areas receive the best attention.
The construction of the Maternity Annex will alleviate congestion in the current structure, enabling the provision of services in an optimal environment without challenges for medical personnel.
Mufumbwe Town Council has contracted BELCUP CONTRACTORS AND GENERAL DEALERS LIMITED to establish the maternity annex at a total cost of K820,886.00 from the 2025 Constituency Development Fund allocation.
The contractor has completed the substructure construction and will proceed to build the superstructure, ensuring completion within three months.
Mufumbwe Town Council’s Engineering Services Department conducted spot checks on ongoing projects from 2024 and 2025 to assess their status, challenges, and progress made by the contracted contractors.
The Engineering department, through Civil Engineer Ernest Samakayi, assured steady progress on the projects and quality work for the community.
He ensured that no project would be left unchecked, as the community deserves the best infrastructure and services from the local authority, and will ensure that all projects are completed on time.
The maternity annex will be a project that the community of KALENGWA WARD will appreciate, as it will alleviate challenges faced by women in receiving essential services.
